Denny Renshaw
There was remarkably little information for Denny Renshaw considering how many famous people he has photographed.  Nothing could be found via wikipedia on him, although he does have his own website and linkedin profile.  Unfortunately these two sites said about as much as wikipedia does about him artistically, as his website only has pictures for the most part and the linkedin profile only...

Project 5 PreThoughts
I figured I could probably get away with just snapping off a bunch of photos of people and just select the best of them and then pretend I had an idea that strung them together, but in the end I think I have a good enough idea to work with.  I guess there are pretty much three approaches to this project; random shooting, subject/object themed shooting, or shooting that emphasizes expression. ...

Project 4 PostCrit Thoughts
I’m surprised at the reception of the photo of my friend’s legs, as that was one of the photos that I considered to be of the weakest of the series, yet it seemed to be the best received.  I thought perhaps it would have been stronger with a female’s legs entwining my friend’s legs, yet there were no criticisms of it beyond the unrealistic nature of being able to part the blinds.  I wish I had...

Project 4 Prethoughts
Considering my failure to have a proper series for the last project, this time I started by thinking of ideas I could shoot and built my way upwards from there.  This plan of attack almost worked too well, as I had so many ideas I liked that I don’t have time to shoot and I wound up shooting the idea that I don’t even necessarily think was my best.  Considering that I did find that the...

Posthoughts on Project 3
The pictures I wound up using happened to be mostly of my friends or in academic environments where I felt I could easily explain myself.  In other places I found myself snapping off pictures too hastily from the hip, instead of taking my time to properly compose the photo.  I had presumed that almost all of the pictures would be blurry, dark, and generally unusable, but my fears were unfounded as...

Photo Project 3 Prethoughts
So the idea of street photography simultaneously intrigued me and creeped me out. The best photos are taken when the camera is not active in the context of the situation, removed from the subject matter to the point where it seems voyeuristic. This adds an element of realism to the photos that can be easily appreciated, but it is the difficulty in accurately capturing this sentiment that makes...

Project 2 Ideas
I was in my shower a week or so ago playing with bubbles in my hand as I often do. When I was little my aunt showed me that you can make huge bubbles while washing your hands, and I’ve been doing it ever since. By creating a surface of soap between your index finger and thumb (making the “ok” symbol), blowing gently on the soap surface to create a bubble and then contracting...

Project 1 Post Crit
Most of what was criticized I totally agreed with.  In the english muffin picture my colors felt a bit flat, so I wish I’d played with those some more to try to super saturate them or something.  In my bacon and english muffin photo I wish I’d reduced my whitebalance more or done something about that serious overexposure. Like Sarah said in class, I’m sure that would have added...

Project 1
So I already had some close ups of food from the first set of photos that we took so I decided to continue with that theme and document my breakfast. I took a bunch of pictures of my muffins in different ways, using the coffee cup in the corner of the shot to impose upon the baked goodness. Long story short, they didn’t turn out very well. I definitely should’ve use macro for a good...
